Trail Boss Ax
While the Cold Steel® Trail Boss ax is compact enough to be easily carried in your hand or strapped to your pack all day, it’s also strong enough for tasks that will beg any hatchet or tomahawk for mercy would let. Equipped with a European-style head with an approx. 10 cm long ax blade and approx. 11.4 cm long cutting edge, it packs quite a punch with every swing. It also has a very stable and hard-wearing handle made from straight-grain American hickory.
This ax was subjected to an intensive practical test in the Australian outback. It was used to chop firewood, clear roads and paths, build hunting hides, and even chop down a mighty tree!
1055 carbon steel
The carbon content and relatively small amounts of other materials in this steel make it a very strong material, free from the brittleness inherent in most higher carbon steels. This steel is ideal for blades that require high impact resistance and is therefore often used for large fixed knives, machetes and swords.
